First of all, what is sake? Sake is a Japanese alcoholic bevarage made from fermented rice. Its light in colour, noncarbonated, has a sweet flavour, and contains about 14 to 16 percent alcohol. People constantly mistake it for wine because of how it looks and its alcoholic content. When in reality it is made by a process known as multiple parallel fermintation, in which a grain of rice is converted from starch to sugar followed by, obviously, alcohol!
Sake is a ceremonial drink and cultural pastime in Japan! So there is a way to respectfully imbibe. Sake is served in small drinking glasses called guinomi or choco! Never drink it like a shot of tequila. Not only will you look stupid for a seasoned sake drinker, but you won't get the full effect of the drink either! Sake has been perfected over hundreds of years to be best drunk like tea or very very fine wine!
Also, while sake is usually served cold, it can be warm or room temperature too of course! Sometimes cheap sake is served hot just to hide its cheap quality, but premium sake is always served chilled.
Despite that its always a lovely drink and definitely worth a try in every one of those ways:)! Sake is an alcoholic drink and can only be sold to adults after checking the IS. Please enjoy mindfully.
