How to make perfect tuna tataki

Tuna tataki is a simple Japanese dish thats made with gently seared tuna and a citrus-soy sauce given a little ginger kick. Its easy to make and makes a great appetizer to a light meal:)

Ingredients:

  • 200g tuna loin fillets

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  • 75g edamame beans, podded

  • Baby herbs, to serve


  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil

  • 1 tbsp water, cold

  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar

  • 1 1⁄2 tsp caster sugar

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, finely grated

  • 1 tsp sesame oil



1. Brush the tuna with oil. Season well. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 30 seconds on each side until cooked through or until done to your liking. Rinse the tuna under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towel. Finely chop.

2. Blanch the beans in a pot of lightly salted boiling water for 1 minute. Drain. Refresh under cold running water. Dry.

3. For the dressing, combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. season.

4. Arrange the tuna on a serving plate. Sprinkle with edamame beans and herbs. Pour dressing over it.
